Child’s Pose (Balasana)

This gentle, grounding pose calms the nervous system, making it a perfect overthinking yoga practice. It relieves tension from the lower back, shoulders, and neck and calms the mind.

How to do it:

  • Kneel on the floor with your big toes touching and knees apart.

  • Stretch your arms forward and rest your forehead on the mat.

  • Take deep breaths, allowing your body to melt into the pose.

Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani)

Practising legs up the wall pose helps improve blood circulation, dispels fatigue and promotes relaxation. It's one of the best yoga poses for overthinking since it enables you to reset your nervous system.

How to do it:

- Sit sideways against a wall and swing your legs up.

- Let your back rest on the ground and relax your arms.

- Keep your eyes closed, taking long breaths.

- Hold this for 5-10 minutes.

Standing Forward Bend 

Also called Uttanasana, standing forward bend can be performed by men and women who are dealing with too much stress. Apart from soothing your brain, it stretches your entire body, making you flexible. Practice it daily to overcome overthinking and release pent-up tension.

How to do it:

- Stand with your feet hip-width apart.

- Hinge at your hips and fold forward, letting your head hang.

- Keep a slight bend in the knees if needed.

- Stay for five deep breaths.



Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana)

Paschimottanasana instils introspection and relaxation. Hence, becoming a suitable yoga psoe for anxiety and overthinking.

How to do it.

- Sit with straight legs in front of you

- Inhale and extend the spine, as you exhale fold forward and reach for feet, shins, or thigh if flexible to reach

- Take one minute longer.

Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana Pranayama)

A simple yet effective overthinking yoga practice, this yoga pranayama technique for overthinking balances both hemispheres of the brain. Thus, enhancing your mental clarity.

How to do it:

- Sit comfortably with your spine straight.

- Close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale deeply through the left nostril.

- Close the left nostril with your ring finger and exhale through the right nostril.

- Inhale through the right nostril and exhale through the left.

- Repeat for 5-10 rounds.

Corpse Pose (Savasana)

Savasana is necessary for bringing the benefits of your yoga practice to overthinking. It provides deep relaxation and a feeling of surrender.

How to do it:

- Lie flat on your back with arms relaxed by your sides.

- Close your eyes and focus on your breath.

- Let go of all thoughts and tensions.

- Stay in this pose for 5-10 minutes.

Mountain Pose (Tadasana)

This standing yoga pose for overthinking is great for calming an overactive mind as it promotes stability, balance, and mental clarity. You can ground your energy, strengthen your posture, and promote a deeper connection to the present moment with the Mountain pose. 

How to do it:


- Stand tall with feet hip-width apart, grounding firmly into the floor. 

- Lift your chest, roll your shoulders back, and engage your core.

- Reach your arms overhead or keep them by your sides.

-  Hold for 5–10 breaths, feeling a sense of stability and calm.

Bridge Pose (Setu Bandhasana)

A wonderful yoga pose for soothing overthinking, Bridge pose releases stress and creates balance in emotional levels. Men and women can also practice this posture to open their heart, and stretch their chest, neck, and spine while improving circulation and energizing body. Setu Bandhasana particularly alleviates fatigue and encourages relaxation. 

How to do it:

- Lie down on your back with your knees bent and toes pressed firmly into the floor.

- With your feet pressing into the ground, lift up your hips toward the ceiling while your thighs remain parallel to each other and your hands are on the side.

- Hold for 5 to 10 breaths, and then come back down slowly.
